GlobalFoundries VR Tour
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Singapore, February 28, 2019 – GLOBALFOUNDRIES hosted an official state visit by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces, and Dr. Maliki Osman, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defense & Ministry of Foreign Affairs from Singapore, at the company’s advanced semiconductor manufacturing facility in Singapore. The visit was part of a broader regional tour to strengthen bilateral and economic collaboration between the UAE and a number of Asian countries.
There was a strong use case utilizing VR to provide similar experience to a normally 1-hour factory tour (requiring clean room gowning, and an air wash), since these officials / royalty were short on time. Developed in 7 days, on location in Singapore, our 2-man team from Infosys created a VR Tour of the Singapore facility for a shared VR Tour theater experience. Six users using the Oculus Go had a synced and voice over guided 360-degree viewing experience, teleporting virtually throughout the semiconductor facility. By integrating Visbit Foveated rendering, we were able to display 6K stereoscopic footage on a 4K device without any noticeable lag. The entire experience was controlled remotely with an iPad.
Responsibilities: Creative Lead, consulting, research and development, consulting, UX / UI, location scouting, 360 image / video capture (using Insta360 Pro 2), video compositing / stitching / processing, and editing, voice over audio recording / editing, script, installation, and client demo.
